Description: An unusual twining, semi-evergreen climber. The intriguing maroon- chocolate flowers have an interesting spiced fragrance with a hint of vanilla and appear in spring. The flowers are shown to their best against the 5 lobed leaves. The leaves can become tinged purple in winter. Flowers are followed by oblong sausage – shaped fruits up to 10cm long.

 
Climate / Position: Partial shade – full sun.

Height / Spread: Height up to 10m. Spread up to 5m.

Soil Requirements: Moist but well drained soil.

Pruning: None specific. Prune after flowering if required.

Special Requirements: Grow 2 plants to ensure cross pollination for sausage fruits.

 
Ideal companion for climbing through a deciduous tree. Also good for trellis and walls.
